Studio Chai is a Bay Area-based brand dedicated to bringing you authentic South Asian chai, made the traditional way. We brew small batches using high-quality tea leaves, freshly ground whole spices, and real ingredients—never syrups, instant powders, or artificial flavors. We believe great chai requires time, care, and respect for its roots, delivering a bold, balanced, and deeply satisfying cup every time.
Chai is more than just a drink. It’s a centuries-old tradition, a symbol of hospitality, and a daily ritual for millions across South Asia. The word chai simply means “tea” in Hindi, Urdu, and many other languages. What we know today as masala chai—tea brewed with spices, milk, and sugar—has a rich history shaped by culture, colonialism, and community.
Chai’s origins trace back over 5,000 years to the Indian subcontinent, where ancient Ayurvedic texts describe spiced herbal brews used for healing and wellness. The chai we enjoy today began to take form during British colonial rule in the 19th century, when black tea was introduced and popularized by the British East India Company to increase demand for Indian-grown tea.
Over time, chai transformed from an elite beverage into a deeply democratic drink, found in every home and on every street corner. From roadside chaiwalas to bustling train stations, chai became a daily comfort, shared among friends, family, coworkers, and strangers alike.

Saffron Chai
A luxurious twist on tradition. Infused with delicate threads of saffron for a slightly floral, subtly sweet profile. Rich, aromatic, and comforting; perfect for slow mornings or indulgent evenings.
Rose Chai
Fragrant and smooth with a floral finish. This blend combines our signature spice mix with real rose petals for a beautifully balanced cup that’s both grounding and uplifting.
Vegan Chai
All the boldness of traditional masala chai. Brewed with the same spice-forward foundation and finished with creamy oat milk for a dairy-free experience that doesn't compromise on flavor.
